Maddie Hale is a very recent student of ours and has only been teaching baby massage for a few months. She's clearly got the bug as she's coming back to learn to teach baby yoga in October. We're looking forward to seeing her again! Tell us about yourself Maddie...
Name: Maddie Hale
Lives: Weston-super-Mare
What do you teach? Baby massage
How long have you been an instructor? Only since June/July
What made you want to become an instructor? I attended baby massage classes with my little boy from 6 weeks old and they were brilliant. I was previously the manager of a busy children's nursery and so I thought massage would be another string to my bow!
What’s your favourite part of your job? Meeting all of the parents and babies and having a good chat! I host at venues and also at people's homes with their mummy friends which is lovely because they are all noticeably more comfortable and relaxed.
How do you keep your skills up to date? I am constantly buying books online and searching for new ideas. I am also doing my baby yoga course in October.
Do you have any favourite websites that you use? Amazon is amazing for equipment, sensory play and for books on massage and relaxation.
What qualities do you think are important in a baby massage instructor? Approachable, friendly, calm and patient!
What benefits do you derive from baby massage? I always come away from my classes feeling very relaxed myself. It's very satisfying when you've had a successful class with happy babies and happy mums.
What’s your top tip for massage? Relaxed mumma = relaxed babba (most of the time!!)
Have you had any amusing experiences in your work as an instructor? Babies having an explosive nappy during a calm and quiet massage group never fails to get a few giggles!
Who would you most like to teach on one of your courses? I would just love to see families who would truly benefit from my massage class, for example I have a mum and dad booking in with the little one they are adopting - I am so looking forward to this. I am also due to teach my first set of twins which will be lovely too.
