This workshop is designed to teach awareness of epilepsy in both adults and children, epileptic seizures, convulsions and the safe administration of Buccal Midazolam (Buccolam) which has been prescribed to a specific patient.
Who should attend?
Our epilepsy training course is ideal for nurses, carers, learning disability teams and healthcare staff who want to gain confidence in the workplace as well as expanding their skill set.

- What is epilepsy and its causes
- Types of seizures and treatment
- First aid treatment
- Implications for people with epilepsy
- Safe administration and use of Buccal Midazolam
- Health and safety issues
- Care plans and legal responsibilities
- Awareness of local policies [^footnote1]

3 hours
How much does it cost?
£420 for up to 16 people (Price includes certification and VAT)
How is it assessed?
- Competency assessed through discussion and participant’s practical demonstration of the administration of Buccal Midazolam.
How long does the certificate last for?
-Certificate of attendance - current for a period of 2 years.
Who should attend?
Anyone working in a setting where clients or staff may suffer from epilepsy and require Buccal Midazolam, for example: residential units, learning disability settings, homes and cares, nurseries, schools, play groups, after school clubs, offices etc.
Note: All attendants should already be first aiders and trained in CPR. We are able to provide additional CPR training is need be
Where and when?
This course can be run within any relevant workplace or childcare venue in the South East and London or at our own venue in Angmering or Brighton, East Sussex. All courses are led by a registered nurse or medical professional and are designed for a maximum of 16 participants.
