What is infant massage?

Infant massage is one of the easiest and most pleasant methods of providing early positive interaction through bonding, fun, trust and relief whilst incorporating nurturing touch, massage and reflexology. Infant massage is very gentle strokes on a baby's skin with its main aim to support attachment and bonding. It also incorporates some gentle movements as well.

What’s the aim of the diploma in teaching infant massage?

The infant massage instructor training course is designed to provide practitioners with the knowledge and teaching ability to safely and effectively deliver infant / baby massage sessions and courses to parents and babies within a variety of individual and group settings. This will also include being able to deliver online sessions to parents and babies.

What age of babies is infant massage suitable for?

Infant massage can be used from birth and on into the Early Years. We find that most parents attend classes with their babies from around 4/5 weeks up until the babies are wriggling/ crawling away (around 7-10 months). Why should I learn how to be a baby massage instructor?

The videos were fantastic, it was great to see Julie demonstrate the strokes and hear her explain things as she would do in a class setting with parents. The video assignments and the lesson planning assignments were also invaluable for learning. I felt confident and prepared to complete my case studies after I completed these assignments.
Infant massage distance learning student, November 2020

Really enjoyed the massage and yoga training that I attended. It was fun and very comprehensive. I felt at ease throughout and left at the end feeling like this is something I can do. There is heaps of support and feedback and small class sizes mean lots of time to practice and get individual feedback. I would happily recommend the classes.
Jen Rose, March 2018

I attended to 1 day Baby Massage course with Kate having completed Modules 1-3 at home. A great day of hand on training in a relaxed and small, friendly group. We had lots of teaching practise which I was quite nervous to begin with but Kate was really positive about our teaching and helped reinforce points as we went through each stroke. I would recommend this course to anyone thinking of training in baby massage. The pre course learning, the course itself and the handbook are excellent. I can't wait to start my case study groups and 121 case studies!
Christine Saunders, November 2017

Training in baby massage with to baby and beyond was excellent! Very thorough training and really helpful to do the case studies and get to practice teaching before being thrown into the deep end! The level of support after qualifying is fantastic, with the Facebook group and access to contact Julie and the tutors there is always someone there to answer any questions or give advice.

I recently attended the Baby and Beyond One Day Infant Massage training course. For anyone in a position, as I was, where being away from home/work for days at a time can be a problem, this course was a fantastic. I did not feel that I had to compromise on the content covered because the pre-course material acted as a fantastic overview of what we would be learning on the day. We also received a high quality, comprehensive handbook on the day, which I can see proving invaluable to my continued learning. Julie was professional, supportive and coherent in her teaching, which made all the difference to my confidence in applying the skills I learned on the course. I would highly recommend the course to anyone looking to train as an infant massage instructor, especially if time away from home/work is an issue.
Robyn Irwin, July 2016

I qualified with Julie in autumn 2010 as an Infant Massage Instructor. I run local ‘drop-in massage’ sessions at a few locations and also offer 1-2-1 courses in parent's own homes for them to learn baby massage in a way that is most relevant to them. I absolutely love teaching and how easy it has been to fit my business in with my own life. I'm about to take a break though as I’m due with our next baby in about 10 days!

I qualified as an Infant Massage Instructor with Julie in Nov 2011 whilst I was on maternity leave. I have set up Happy Hands Baby Massage in Teddington and work this around my day job as an Events Manager and my young family. I hope to expand Happy Hands as our family grows and family needs change. Ideally I hope Happy Hands will one day be my main business and hope to add baby yoga, pregnancy massage & more for a rounded experience for mums. There are lots of babies in my area so I am hoping for word of mouth to help me along the way!

I really enjoyed the Infant baby massage distance learning course. I’ve got great support and quick reply to questions I had. Julie was great to work with over our Skype session. My assignments were send back really quickly after marking with feedback that is useful. I recommend the course for anyone interested in taking the distance course. Very happy with this company. Thank you for all the great support and it was great working with you.
