Please note: this is not an instructor training course
This is a Paediatric First Aid qualification for people who want to become qualified paediatric first aiders in their workplace — such as nursery staff, childminders, teaching assistants, and anyone working with babies and children. If you are looking for instructor training courses (baby massage, baby yoga, etc.), please visit our Instructor Training page.
Course Overview
Our Paediatric First Aid course is a 12-hour blended learning qualification — 6 hours of online study followed by 6 hours of practical, face-to-face training. It's designed for anyone working with or caring for babies and children, and is recognised by OFSTED as meeting the requirements for early years settings.
The course covers everything from CPR and choking to managing allergic reactions, head injuries, burns, and childhood illnesses. You'll gain the confidence and skills to respond calmly and effectively in an emergency.
Delivered by experienced paediatric professionals, our training is practical, supportive, and designed for real-world application — not just theory. Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about our Paediatric First Aid training.
Is this course recognised by OFSTED?
Yes. Our Paediatric First Aid blended learning course meets OFSTED requirements for early years settings. The 12-hour format (6 hours online + 6 hours face-to-face) satisfies the requirement for those registering on the OFSTED Statutory and Voluntary Register.
How long is the qualification valid for?
Your Paediatric First Aid certificate is valid for 3 years. We recommend refreshing your knowledge annually — we offer a free online annual refresher for anyone who has trained with us in the last 3 years.
What is the pre-course work and how do I access it?
When you book your course, you'll receive a booking confirmation which includes access to the pre-course work. This is the online learning element of the blended course and takes approximately 6 hours to complete. We strongly recommend completing it before attending your face-to-face practical day, as it covers the theory and recognition skills you'll need for the hands-on session.
Can I do the online part at my own pace?
Yes. The 6-hour online pre-course work can be completed at your own pace before your face-to-face practical day. You can access it on any device — phone, tablet, or computer. You'll find the access details in your booking confirmation.
Will I need to get on the floor to demonstrate CPR?
Yes — the practical day includes hands-on CPR practice on baby and child mannequins, which does involve kneeling and getting down to floor level to demonstrate the techniques. If you have any mobility concerns or find it difficult to get down to floor level, please let us know in advance and we'll do our best to make adjustments so you can still take part comfortably.
When will I get my certificate?
Following your face-to-face practical day and completion of the pre-course work, your final online quiz and certificate will be sent to you within 7 working days (Monday to Friday) of your face-to-face date.
Can you come to our nursery or school?
Absolutely. We offer in-house Paediatric First Aid training across Sussex, Surrey and London. We come to your setting, which means no travel for your team and flexible scheduling. Contact us for a group quote.
