Our Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course covers all of the basic elements to help you keep calm, take control of a situation, and administer first aid prior to the professionals arriving.

This one-day course can be tailored to your workplace's specific needs and is delivered by registered nurses, ambulance staff, and experienced first aid instructors with direct teaching and administering experience.

Courses can take place within your own premises, at our specialist venue in Hove, or at your workplace if you're located in Sussex, Surrey, London or Kent.

This one-day course can be tailored to your workplace's specific needs and covers the basic elements of emergency first aid, including:

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Understanding the role of the first aider
  • Legal responsibilities in the workplace
  • When and how to call emergency services

Assessing a Situation

  • Scene safety and primary assessment
  • Identifying life-threatening conditions
  • Prioritising casualties in an emergency

Resuscitation & Choking

  • Dealing with a non-breathing casualty
  • CPR techniques for adults
  • Managing choking and airway obstruction

Unconscious Casualty

  • Dealing with a non-responsive casualty
  • Recovery position
  • Monitoring and reassessment

Bleeding & Shock

  • Managing severe and minor bleeding
  • Recognising and treating shock
  • Wound care and dressing techniques

Injuries & Minor First Aid

  • Suspected fractures and sprains
  • Dealing with minor injuries

If you care for older children or are the designated first aider working with other adults such as staff members, you may also need an adult first aid qualification alongside your Paediatric First Aid.
