There have been changes from the 1st September 2014 on the guidance for the Early Years First Aid Qualification and registering with OFSTED.
A summary of the changes:
- Local Authorities will no longer approve first aid training
- Providers can choose which organisation they wish to provide the training (preferably one with a nationally approved and accredited first aid qualification or one that is a member of a trade body with an approval and monitoring scheme). Download the full document from the EYFS
- The training needs to cover the full syllabus as specified by OFSTED and be assessed.
This means all child carers can attend a one day face to face training only but those wishing to register on the OFSTED Statutory register must have addition learning up to 12 hours – this includes home written or e-learning.
